I’m talking about the book "The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society" by Mary Ann Shaffer and Annie Barrows and the 2018 movie adaptation. The story is a historical fiction set in 1946 London, just after the Second World War. Juliet is a writer who had a popular column during the war which was later turned into a book. She gets a letter from a stranger named Dawsey who lives on the island of Guernsey. He got her name and address from inside a second-hand book. They become pen pals, and Juliet learns all about the book club they formed during the German occupation of Guernsey.
